Canto Grande and the Christina Brothers

First an apology:
I would have wanted to post more but there was little time AND the computer here was not functioning.
Going back two days, our busy day in terms of direct work with the poor was Thursday. We arrived fairly early in the area, about 9:30am and met Brother James Gloss (I need to check the spelling on his name). He welcomed us and explained the day. We also met the other brothers in residence. To a man I found them to be people of gentle souls, warm hearts, and humility. I know this is a tangent, but I was touched by the comment of brother from Ireland who is new to the area. He noted that the greater part of the work of the brother there was not to DO, for the brothers had always done so much, but to BE: To be a witness on behalf of Christ to the poor. I kept returning to the phrase in the brothers´documents, ¨to see Christ present and appealing in the poor.¨
All through the two days spent in Canto Grande, I observed the love and regard given the brothers, not just by the students who are so warm and accepting of visitors, but by everyone we met in the area. Thus, I believe the brother´s commment that they are to BE witnesses seems to be true.
